Finding Inspiration in RBG鈥檚 Legacy

Finding Inspiration in RBG鈥檚 Legacy

By Steve Smith

2020 feels like a year filled with an excessive amount of hardship, loss, and grief.

When I heard about the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg last Friday evening, I gasped and my heart sank. I knew her cancer had returned, but she always seemed to bounce back. Perhaps I was buoyed by the images of her morning workouts that are famously featured in the documentary The Notorious RBG and forever etched in my mind. She seemed eternally and unusually resilient.

Justice Ginsberg was unapologetically unique, confronted obstacles head-on, and never lost sight of what she valued most: justice, equality, pride, civility, collaboration, and commitment.

Only the second women to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court in its 200+ years, she was not only a part of history but also someone who changed it.

In difficult times, I find inspiration in leaders like Ruth Bader Ginsberg. Her legacy, wisdom, and perseverance never wavered. She was a lifelong trailblazer who fought against gender discrimination鈥 time and time again. She told others to stand up for what they care about most but also to do so in a way that will encourage others to join along. "Real change, enduring change," she said, "happens one step at a time."

If you have reflections on the life and legacy of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg and would like to share them with colleagues, I hope you will share them via the Tweet link below. I would enjoy reading them and am certain others would too.
